MPD Offers New Programs

VACATION WATCH PROGRAM

The Montgomery Police Department offers a Vacation Watch Program for city residents going out of town for more than one day.   With the Vacation Watch program, you can leave your residence knowing that law enforcement will be looking after it for you. The quickest way to submit the request is to fill out the online form in the link here.

***Please note: The Montgomery Police Department can only do Vacation Watches within the city limits of the city of Montgomery. If you’re located outside the city limits, you will need to contact your local police/sheriff/constable***

TIPS FOR GOING ON VACATION:

  • Do not leave valuables inside your vehicle and make sure vehicles are locked. If no vehicle will be in your driveway, ask a neighbor if they would park their car in your driveway.
  • Do not announce your vacation plans on social media.
  • Have a neighbor or someone you know pick up your newspaper, or suspend your subscription while you’re gone.
  • Have your mail held at the post office for the duration of your vacation
  • If you are going to leave lights on while you’re gone, consider placing them on timers or ask a neighbor to turn them on and off for you. Exterior lights should only be left on if they are equipped with dusk to dawn sensors.  Lights left on over night are ok, but exterior lights left on through the day can be a sign that no one is home.
  • Lock all doors and windows.
  • Arrange for house, lawn, pet, and plant care.
  • Notify your alarm company to make our agency the first contact point when your alarm is triggered, even above yourself.

BUSINESS WATCH PROGRAM

Chief Soloman and the entire department are committed to keeping businesses safe and secure. If you’re a business owner in the city limits of Montgomery, you can use this form to request extra patrols and/or notify the department of any concerns you have.  This form may also be used for businesses who have employees that need a safety walk to their cars when businesses close late.
