Utility Bill Relief

The City of Montgomery is offering a utility bill credit to help residents offset the cost of water loss from broken pipes, or excess water usage from dripping faucets to prevent freezing pipes during last week’s frigid weather conditions.

During the recent cold front, many residents experienced multiple burst pipes and significant water loss.  The unusually high water usage will begin to show up on the utility bill that is due on March 16, 2021.

To apply for an adjustment to a water bill, residents must go to the City Hall Utility Department or contact the City Utility Department at 936-597-3275.

After applying, the City will look at the meter’s actual use to determine the appropriate amount to credit for water use above normal use.  The City will make an adjustment to sewer charges to estimate the amount lost due to a water leak that did not enter the sewer system.  The credit will be up to $100 per account.

Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2021.

At this time, the utility bill credit is also being offered to smaller, local business accounts that might need help.  These commercial applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
