The City of Montgomery is in the process of upgrading some of the water lines within the City. Nerie Construction LLC was recently awarded a bid for $913,338 to replace and increase the size of water lines in several areas of Montgomery.
Currently the company is replacing the water line at Cedar Brake Park and will continue along Eva Street toward Pond Street. This work will improve the capacity of the City’s system to carry water to the western parts of Montgomery which will improve water pressure and prepare for future growth.
Additional water line improvements are scheduled along Pond Street, north of Clepper on Highway 149, as well as parts of Highway 105.
The boring machine being used, pressurizes water to dig a long cavity underground for the future pipes. This method alleviates the need to damage driveways and streets with digging long trenches. Instead, the cavity can be dug under existing streets. It is necessary to dig a trench periodically in order to move the boring machine’s position and attach pipe.
Montgomery’s staff and City Council have been working hard to stay ahead of growth that is expected around Montgomery.
